Supervisor's Message 2023-2024

Greetings to all. It is my honour to be the Supervisor of St. Rose of Lima’s College. Some of you may be aware that I am also a Rosian as I studied in the St. Rose of Lima’s Kindergarten many years ago. I then continued my education in other Catholic schools. As an undergraduate, I started teaching in evening classes and upon graduation, I became a secondary school teacher but only for a short spell of three months. In 1979, I bid farewell to the teaching profession and immediately started my training in Wong Chuk Hang, as I was accepted by the Police Force to embark on my journey as an Inspector. My teacher colleagues at that time described me as “laying down the pen and joining the military”(投筆從戎).

I have spent 32 years with the Police Force and grown alongside with it. I fully enjoyed the work and the camaraderie I shared with my colleagues. The over three decades of career has instilled in me the pursuit of practical knowledge, wide ranging exposure and opportunities to receive a variety of training as well as working with people from diverse background and strata of the community. Such foundation has motivated me to continue to develop myself till the present day.

We always adhere to the motto ‘Failing to plan is planning to fail’. We should strive to set clear objectives, devise a plan, and work it out with determination and hard work. This is my best advice to anyone who wants to live a purposeful life. After retirement, I was invited by the FMM sisters to become a School Manager. The past 8 years working with Sister Judith, Sister Lilly and other IMC members of whom I am forever grateful for, have been invaluable for me in broadening my horizon and knowledge in school management. To me, life seems to be a cycle, from a part time to a full time teacher, a Police Officer, then came back as a School Manager and now the Supervisor. I believe God has His plan for me and each of us.

Looking ahead, I am hopeful that my solid experience in Human Resource Management, Service Quality and lifelong learning and development will bring continuous improvement to school management. It is my utmost priority to create an environment that nurtures students’ growth and gives tremendous support to our teachers.

School is a place of knowledge. However, knowledge becomes quickly outdated or even obsolete. That is why we should enhance our ability to accept and learn new things, to have analytical and independent thinking. Our students possess immense potential waiting to be unlocked. We will help our students to make their best endeavour to achieve academic excellence, strong personality as well as physical and mental agility in order to embrace challenges in life. Last but not least, I am a strong believer in effective communication and transparency. I look forward to regularly meeting and talking to all stakeholders to reinforce our vision, mission, common purpose and goals.

I am sure St. Rose of Lima’s College will continue to be a happy place for students to learn and grow; to become kind, confident and responsible members of the community and we will forever be proud to be Rosians. With God’s guidance, we will succeed.

May God bless us all.

Mr. Chung Hung Fung Harry
