Principal’s Message 2024-2025

"Exploring with Care, Transcending with Love"

As we embark on a new school year, I am thrilled to welcome you all back to our vibrant community! This year, we proudly embrace the slogan "Exploring with Care, Transcending with Love." This guiding principle reflects our commitment to nurturing an environment where every girl can flourish academically, emotionally, and spiritually, grounded in the teachings of our faith.

In line with our new three-year school development plan, we will focus on three major areas of concern:

  1. Promoting Healthy Lifestyle and Wellbeing through Positive Education: Implementing initiatives that foster mental health, physical fitness, and emotional resilience, reflecting our belief that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit within us (1 Corinthians 6:19). Through prayer, reflection, and community support, we aim to create a culture of well-being.
  2. Enhancing Self-regulated Learning: Empowering our students to take ownership of their learning, guided by the wisdom of Proverbs 2:6: “For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.” Our focus will be on developing self-regulation skills that promote independence, motivation, and effective study habits.
  3. Enhancing National and Global Citizenship: Engaging our students in meaningful activities that promote awareness, empathy, and action, in line with our calling to love our neighbours as ourselves (Mark 12:31). Through service projects and community involvement, we will nurture compassionate and responsible citizens committed to making a positive impact in the world.

Reflecting on our past achievements, I am proud to highlight the outstanding awards our students received in the last academic year:

Vincy Tai, our graduate of last year (2022-2023), won the Grantham Scholars of the Year Award 2023-2024. This prestigious award is presented to Form 6 students who attain outstanding results in HKDSE and demonstrate excellent attributes. Only 24 students in Hong Kong receive this award each year, and we are proud that our students have consistently been recognized in various years.

Besides, Scarlet Cheung from Form 6A and Kelly Chan from Form 6E obtained the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Prizes for Senior Secondary School Students 2024. Their achievements reflect the high standards our students uphold.  Notably, Kelly Chan (Form 6E) was accepted by the University of Hong Kong (HKU) through the School Nominations Direct Admission Scheme (SNDAS) to study Actuarial Science. Last year, among 720 nominations from secondary schools in Hong Kong, only 256 students were admitted through this scheme, making her achievement particularly commendable.

In the South China Morning Post Student of the Year Awards 2023/24, we celebrate the following achievements: Meerab Malik (Form 5A) won in the category of “Best Improvement”, Elen Choi (Form 5D) received a Certificate of Merit in “Visual Artists”, and Edith Yip (Form 5E) earned a Certificate of Merit in “Linguist - Cantonese.”

In the 20th Sha Tin District Outstanding Student Election, Cheryl Ng from Form 3A was recognized as one of the 10 winners in the Junior Section, showcasing the remarkable talent in our younger students.

Our students have also achieved excellence across various domains:

Meerab Malik from Form 5A was awarded 2nd Runner-up in the Senior Division of The Hong Kong Federation of Youth English Public Speaking Contest 2024 and 1st Runner-up in the Senior Secondary Division of the '21st Century Cup' National English Speaking Competition (Hong Kong) 2024.

Audrey Lau from Form 5E won the Best Interior Design Award in the Architecture, Interior and Landscape Design Competition 2024 organized by the Building, Civil Engineering and Built Environment Training Board of the Vocational Training Council.

Ursula Lai, Katie Man, Cheryl Ng, and Madalyn Tam from Form 3A obtained the 2nd Runner-up in The Hong Kong Greenmech Contest 2023-2024 and competed in the world finals at the “World GreenMech Contest” held in Indonesia in August.

Our Chinese Orchestra received the Silver Award in the Chinese Orchestra Interflow, Secondary School Class A during the 2023 Hong Kong Youth Music Interflows.  The Chinese Debate Team demonstrated their prowess by winning the Championship in the debate competition organized by the Harbour Bay Society.

In the English Drama Fest 2024, our students garnered the Award for Outstanding Performance, Award for Outstanding Script, and Award for Outstanding Performers. Similarly, in the Hong Kong School Drama Festival (Secondary Cantonese) 2023/24, our students won the Award for Outstanding Cooperation, Award for Outstanding Stage Effects, and Award for Outstanding Performers.

In the Shatin and Sai Kung Inter-Secondary Schools matches organized by the Hong Kong Schools Sports Federation, our School Table Tennis Team claimed 1st Runner-up in Girls Grade A, and our School Basketball Team also secured 1st Runner-up in Girls Grade B.

These remarkable achievements reflect the hard work, dedication, and passion of our students. As we move forward, we will continue to support and nurture their talents, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to shine.

As we pursue our goals, we are also inspired by the remarkable achievements of our athletes at the Paris Olympics 2024. Notably, Sarah Lee Wai-sze, Cheung Ka-long, and Siobhan Bernadette Haughey showcased exceptional talent and determination.  Haughey, who won a medal in swimming, reflected on her journey with the words, “Every setback is a setup for a comeback. Stay focused, and never lose sight of your goals.”  Cheung Ka-long, who won gold in fencing, shared his experience, stating, “The journey is just as important as the destination. Embrace every moment, learn from each match, and remember that passion fuels success.”  Sarah Lee added, “Every effort counts; never underestimate your potential”, highlighting the value of perseverance.

These athletes exemplify the spirit of commitment and passion, reminding us that we can achieve our dreams through hard work and determination. Let us draw inspiration from their accomplishments as we embark on our own paths of exploration and growth.

Together, let us embrace this journey of exploration and transcendence, rooted in care and love. May we continue to seek God’s guidance in all our endeavours and support each other in our quest for knowledge and virtue. I am excited to witness the growth and achievements of our students as we navigate this enriching three-year plan.
