Activities inside and outside classrooms and school

Reading Committee

To promote Reading across Curriculum (RaC), our school strives to help students connect their learning experiences, and provide opportunities for integrating and applying knowledge and skills developed in different KLAs through e-Reading activities and interactive RaC reading schemes conducted by Reading Ambassadors and Class Librarians.

Reading Carnival:

The Reading Carnival brings together senior and junior form students in an engaging celebration of reading and learning. Form 4 students design a variety of  mini reading games with interactive elements, such as puzzles, matching, role playing and categorising, for Form 2 students in the Reading Carnival. The event not only empowers students to showcase their creativity and application of knowledge, but also promotes inter-disciplinary learning and cultivates leadership as well as collaboration among students.

DEAR Time — Reading across Curriculum Talks:

Reading across Curriculum (RaC) Talks held during DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) Time are a multi-sensory reading activity that encourages students to explore various STREAM-related topics, ranging from captivating scientific phenomena and enlightening mathematical breakthroughs to groundbreaking technological advancement.

DEAR Time — e-Reading:

Under the e-Reading Scheme, 60 Kindles with e-books recommended by subject teachers are available for borrowing in our School Library. Besides, Kobo apps with e-books that students show interest in are available on students’ iPads.

Moreover, to support students in F1 to F3 who are less proficient in languages, our school encourages them to read on Lightsail, a web-based eReading platform. Lightsail assesses students’ Lexile levels, provides ebooks of appropriate difficulty, and engages students through content-related questions and gamification by providing badges and scores for readers of various levels.

Big Sister Reading Programme

Under the Big Sister Reading Programme, Reading Ambassadors are given opportunities to guide targeted students to read books and exchange their thoughts towards those books. This boosts students’ interest in reading through the interaction with Reading Ambassadors.
